The award, which this time went to Polynormal Games and Feynarock, is aimed at companies that have participated in the nine-month R42 Games Accelerator program. One of the goals of the accelerator is to create new jobs in Leipzig in the future. Accordingly, when selecting the winners, special emphasis is placed on their potential for long-term success in the market.

The Leipzig Start-up Prize itself is awarded by the city's economic development agency in partnership with the R42 Games Accelerator. The award has been presented since 2023, with this year marking the fourth time the prize has been awarded.

"At R42 Games Accelerator, young games start-ups get the tailwind they need. Here, games enthusiasts are forged into entrepreneurs. We are delighted when these talented individuals choose Leipzig not only as a springboard, but as their home," says Clemens Schülke, Mayor for Economic Affairs, Labor, and Digitalization of the City of Leipzig.

And Marleen Wagner, Team Lead at R42 Games Accelerator, adds: "We are very pleased that Leipzig's economic development agency is not only supporting the R42 Games Accelerator, but also awarding two start-ups separately. This is a great honor for the start-ups and a real incentive."

Polynormal Games wants to use its games to tell socially relevant stories and give marginalized groups a voice. Feynarock is developing an AI-supported pen-and-paper role-playing game for children aged 6 and up, which aims above all to strengthen creativity, empathy, and team spirit.
