More than 100 guests from the games industry attended the traditional medianet Games Summer Reception, including Lothar Sattler from the Berlin Senate Chancellery, Department I - Federal and European Affairs and Media Policy. Among the topics discussed were the upcoming House of Games in Berlin and the effects of the current lack of federal funding.

Over 100 guests from the games industry attended the medianet Games Summer Reception in Berlin yesterday afternoon, the B2B evening event held every year in late summer. This year's venue, the Bootshaus, could only be reached by boat (MS Rhein) leaving from the East Side Gallery.

Lothar Sattler, responsible for Department I, Federal and European Affairs and Media Policy at Berlin's Senate Chancellery, welcomed the guests along with Jeannine Koch, Managing Director of the organising network association medianet berlinbrandenburg e.V., and Hendrik Ruhe, co-founder of Instinct3. "I am very pleased that Lothar Sattler from the Berlin Senate Chancellery was able to attend, which once again demonstrates the importance the Berlin government attaches to the games industry," said Jeannine Koch.

Among the most discussed topics were the ongoing plans for the "House of Games", which is due to open in Berlin in 2026. medianet is leading this flagship project for the Berlin Senate in cooperation with a steering committee that includes Ubisoft and game - the German Games Industry Association. Another topic was the impact of the current lack of federal funding for games and the new games funding guideline that is currently being coordinated in the federal government and will come into effect at the beginning of 2025. Of course, the event also provided an opportunity for networking.

Jeannine Koch: "The medianet Games Summer Reception has become a permanent fixture in the calendars of many games companies and their stakeholders. In times of economic challenges, formats like this are particularly relevant to intensify networking within the industry and thus enable innovation and synergies - be it in the areas of cooperation, financing & investment, technology & AI applications or skilled workers. The planned "House of Games" will further promote the development of the regional games industry."

The Games Summer Reception was held in cooperation with Instinct3 and Brehm & v. Moers. The event was supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and realised in cooperation with the initiatives medianet Games International - Transatlantic and Games Capital Berlin.
