Megabit, the publishing arm of Aonic, has appointed Jonathan Hales as its new CEO to lead a strengthened team. The former Kalypso and Codemasters senior leader will oversee publishing efforts on Hello Sunshine, Thick as Thieves, Lou's Lagoon and more.
Jonathan Hales is the new CEO of Megabit Publishing. He joins Megabit Publishing after spending nearly 15 years at Kalypso Media's Kasedo Games, where he played a key role in its foundation. As Managing Director, he led the publishing team behind hits including Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, Ixion, Rise of Industry, Project Highrise and more. In his new role, he is leading a publishing unit following the merger of Megabit's established team with the publishing department of Aonic stablemates and VR specialists nDreams at the end of 2025.
"I was immediately excited by the opportunity that exists at Megabit and the challenge to make waves in indie and double-A gaming," said CEO Jonathan Hales. "Seeing the anticipation building for our in-development titles, all of which show a boldness in direction and ambition that reflects our own as a publisher, gives me great confidence in what we can achieve. My goals are to build a strong collective spirit, empower talented people, and ultimately establish Megabit as the publisher of choice for ambitious developers."
Megabit is the publisher of all PC and console games developed within the Aonic group, including Lou's Lagoon and Verdant from Tiny Roar, Thick As Thieves from OtherSide Entertainment, Grit and Valor from Milky Tea, and Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults from BKOM. Megabit is also a third-party publisher. In December, Hello Sunshine from Red Thread Games was unveiled as Megabit's latest third-party signing, with a trailer being shown at the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted, which has been viewed by over 2.5 million people. It quickly topped 120,000 Steam wishlists. "Megabit has a significant third-party publishing fund to invest and is actively looking to sign more promising PC and console games in 2026," said the publisher. Developers interested in pitching their games to Megabit can do so here.
Aonic is a global technology and video gaming group comprising 12 companies and employing over 600 people. Megabit, Aonic's publishing arm, was created to support its first- and third-party studio partners. Current titles in development at Megabit include Thick as Thieves from Warren Spector's OtherSide Entertainment, Hello Sunshine from Red Thread Games, Pathfinder: Abomination Vaults by BKOM Studios, the cozy open-world adventure game Lou's Lagoon, and the bittersweet coming-of-age adventure Verdant by Tiny Roar.
