Billion-Download Success for Hessian Mobile Games Developer Lotum
At the beginning of April, games developed by Lotum media, based in Bad Nauheim, Hesse, surpassed the milestone of one billion downloads. Alongside the continued development of its established franchises, the company is increasingly focusing on new ideas and platforms.
It’s a remarkable achievement, one that few studios in Germany have managed to reach. Since its founding over a decade ago, Lotum media has accumulated more than one billion installs across all platforms and titles.
“This milestone impressively demonstrates that our passion for games inspires and connects people all over the world. We draw a great deal of motivation from the reach of our games. We’re proud to achieve such success with a small team,” said Jens Abke, co-founder of Lotum.
The studio’s most successful title is 4 Bilder 1 Wort (4 Pictures 1 Word), which has been downloaded over 450 million times since its release in 2013. Other well-known games by Lotum include Quiz Planet, Word Blitz, and The Test. According to the company, more than 50 different titles have been developed and released over the years.
While iOS and Android remain central channels, the team is increasingly exploring social media platforms as distribution avenues. Lotum has had longstanding success on Facebook Instant Games and, since 2024, has also been active on Discord as a gaming platform. "In addition to further developing our established franchises, we want to continue creating space for new ideas and platforms in the future," said Jens Abke.
