At the christmas party of the Bavarian games industry organised by Games/Bavaria on Thursday, 11 December 2025, the state's Digital Minister Fabian Mehring had several good news in store for the games industry. One of them: The funding Gamerei, Munich's games company hub and social space in the Eastern city part of Berg am Laim, will be secured by the Digital Ministry for the entire mandate of Mehring as Digital Minister. This means that the Gamerei is secured at least until mid-2028.

The announcement came, of course, with an impish nod to Berlin's House of Games, which is supposed to open with a slight delay in the second half of 2026.

Gamerei is operated by Games/Bavaria for the Digital Ministry and currently the only operational state-funded gaming hub in Germany. It emerged when the state took over the lease of Mimini Production's rooms when the prestige studio closed down in 2023.
