At Anime Expo, Polish game developer CD Projekt and Japanese anime studio Trigger jointly announced a second instalment of their Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

CD Projekt Red is thus demonstrating how important it is to the Polish game developer to extend its complex game worlds into other media, especially in collaboration with Netflix. The fourth season of CD Projekt Red's most important game brand, The Witcher, is currently in the works. And the action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 also got its own Netflix series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, albeit as an anime.

This will now be continued, as CD Projekt and Japanese production partner Trigger revealed during a panel at Anime Expo in Los Angeles. Although ‘continuation’ may be misleading. This is not a new season, but a new series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.

"David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City. And to again have the legendary animation studio Trigger along for the ride makes us at CD Projekt Red  so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve done before," said Bartosz Sztybor, showrunner, story writer, and producer on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. He will be joined by lead character designer Kanno Ichigo (Promare, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) and Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare), who will be responsible for the screenplay adaptation.

The series is currently in production and is set to be broadcast on Netflix at a later date. However, exact dates have not yet been confirmed.
