Crytek has announced the appointment of Christopher Schmitz as their new Chief Operating Officer. Bringing over 30 years of industry  experience to the company, Schmitz joins Crytek's executive team in underscoring the company's commitment to strategic growth.

Christopher Schmitz will become the new Chief Operating Officer of Crytek with effect from the first of June. In his role as COO, he will oversee development and live operations of Crytek games, with a focus on strategic planning and implementation to ensure efficiency across all company daily operations. "We are thrilled to welcome Christopher as Chief Operating Officer at Crytek," said Avni Yerli, CEO of Crytek GmbH. "His vast experience and proven track record in operational leadership make him the ideal candidate to help steer us towards continued success as we focus on progress through industry leading innovation, growth and development."

Schmitz's career spans more than three decades. He started out as a Producer at Softgold Computerspiele and spent over seven years as Director of Product Development and Executive Producer at Ubisoft Blue Byte. After that, he moved abroad. He has worked at Quantic Dream (Director of Production), IO Interactive (Executive Producer and Chief Business Development Officer) and Ghost Games (Director of Product Development). Prior to joining Crytek, Christopher Schmitz served as Chief Operating Officer at Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish company behind Control and Alan Wake.

Crytek is an independent videogame developer, publisher, and technology provider with its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main and studios in Kyiv (Ukraine), and Istanbul (Turkey). Crytek has created the original Far Cry, the Crysis series, Ryse: Son of Rome, The Climb, Robinson: The Journey and Hunt: Showdown. Hunt: Showdown in particular has become a long-term hit as a game-as-a-service. The company is also working on a fourth Crysis game.
