The 20th anniversary edition of the Nordic Game Conference from 21 to 24 May was a great success. More than 2,500 attendees visited NG Spring 2024 in Malmö and online. An increase from last year.

More than 2,500 people attended NG Spring 2024, either physically in Malmö or online via the Nordic Game Discord. 30,000 unique viewers watched the live streamed talks and sessions from the main theatre at Slagthuset via streams and the NG Discord. 157 speakers discussed industry trends and shared insights/learnings. Topics included virtual reality, AI, sustainable studio management, adapting to change, cultural representation in games and even romance design.

As always, business and matchmaking were an integral part of Nordic Game. Through the MeetToMatch meeting system, a total of 3,522 confirmed meetings were held, compared to 3,328 last year. More than 50 tables were made available for meetings.

Next year's Nordic Game Conference will be held at Slagthuset in Malmö and online from 20 to 23 May 2025.

Many representatives of the GSA were also present, from PR and developers to marketing and lawyers. Giants Software was there looking for experienced staff, while Gamecity Hamburg and medianet berlinbrandenburg each had four studios on hand to present their games at a joint booth in the Developer Showcase.

Gamecity Hamburg brought About Cannons + Sparrows, Amberdive Interactive, Pipapo Games and Markus Koepke. medianet berlinbrandenburg had the following studios on site: Bad Spiele Studio, Food for Thought Media, Telescope Game Studio and Torpor Games. SwissGames came to the event with seven studios, including Early Coffee Games, Flawberry Studio, Kipwak Studio, LUAL Games, Momento Games, Strangers, and Strobetano.

In 2023, more than 2,000 participants attended the live event, while a further 300+ participated online. 11,000+ unique viewers watched the live streamed sessions. 169 speakers were on site. Both the number of attendees and the number of livestream viewers increased in 2024 compared to 2023.

Also, on its 20th anniversary, the conference hosted the Nordic Game Awards 2024, honoring the best projects from Nordic game developers. The big winner was Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake 2, with three awards for Nordic Game of the Year, Best Art and Best Audio.
