The new board of games.nrw has been elected. Benedikt Grindel (Ubisoft Blue Byte) remains spokesperson, Katharina Weiß (Silent Future) is the new deputy spokesperson.

Yesterday, the new board of games.nrw e.V. met for the first time and elected the board spokespersons. The general meeting had already elected the five board members last Thursday - as required by the association's constitution. The existing board members Johannes Brauckmann (NARC), Daniel Dumont (Gaming Minds Studios), Benedikt Grindel (Ubisoft Blue Byte) and Katharina Weiß (Silent Future) were confirmed by the members. New to the board is Lena Morano Gerding (Flying Sheep Studios), who has been active in the association for several years as a cash auditor. Kristin Janulik (Cubidoo Entertainment) left the board at her own request. The members thanked her for her work as deputy board spokesperson since the foundation of the regional association. They also acknowledged her role in the reorientation of the German Developer Award (DEP). She will continue to be involved with the DEP as project manager.

Benedikt Grindel: "Kristin has been a member of our board since the association was founded in 2017. She has been a driving force for games.nrw and we are delighted that she will continue to be associated with games.nrw. I would like to thank her for her commitment and the excellent and trusting cooperation. Above all, we are happy that the DEP will continue to bear her signature.

Katharina Weiß: "At a time when the games industry is experiencing challenging dynamics, it is particularly important to me to vigorously represent the interests of our members. Together with our members, we will continue to give the industry a voice at the local level and work in partnership with the players in the country to sharpen the profile of the games industry as a business location".

The general meeting at Ubisoft Blue Byte's offices in Düsseldorf called for a clear direction in the organisation of state and federal funding. The roles of the states and the federal government in supporting the industry should follow transparent objectives. The expansion of the location in order to generate international attractiveness (also beyond gamescom) and concise location marketing remain important topics on the economic policy agenda.
