Metacore targets growth opportunities in casual and Merge2 genres. The mobile games company has appointed Brent Blazek as its new Growth Lead to drive the growth of its four-year-old game Merge Mansion.

In 2024, Metacore's Merge Mansion reached two milestones: over 55 million downloads and over $500 million in lifetime revenue. This year, the company plans to accelerate the game's growth. "At Metacore, we want to build games that last for decades. Reaching the four-year mark is just the beginning for Merge Mansion. The genres we are operating in, casual and Merge2, have developed over the years hand in hand with Merge Mansion, and we see great potential ahead. We want Merge Mansion to continue to be the number one benchmark of these categories," says Metacore's CEO Mika Tammenkoski.

Blazek joins the team with an industry background from King and Jam City, where he has focused on product and marketing synergies, live operations and data science over the years. "I have been a fan and admirer of Merge Mansion since its launch. After four years, Merge Mansion is still breaking new ground, and it's exciting to see how much potential there is for growth in the genre. I'm looking forward to working with the talented and driven team to keep the game evolving and delivering unforgettable player experiences, whether they've been with us since the start or are just discovering the world of Merge Mansion," adds Brent Blazek.

This is how Metacore describes the market environment: "According to SensorTower, revenue estimates for the casual category grew by 10% in 2024 compared to 2023. Meanwhile, the Merge2 category experienced significant growth, particularly in the latter half of 2024, with a 45% increase in H2 compared to H1. During that same period, Merge Mansion recorded a strong 22% growth."

Metacore is a mobile games company based in Helsinki and Berlin, with a team of over 250 people and revenues of €162 million in 2023. The studio's first live game, Merge Mansion, launched in 2020 and has over 55 million players. Metacore has raised €180 million in funding from Supercell and is one of its portfolio companies.
