The inaugural Phygital Sports tournament in Germany is set to take place on 30 November 2025 as part of the ISPO World Sports Fair in Munich. Winners will have the chance to win €500,000 in prize money at the international Phygital Sports League final in June 2026.

Basketball, football and dance are currently offered in Germany, each with its digital counterpart. Additional disciplines will be added to the league next year. Registration for the German championship is open until 27 November 2025 via the league's website. All participants can compete in mixed teams.

Phygital Sports League (PSL)

"Given its rapid growth and international visibility, Phygital Sports is an integral part of the growing global sports market. Germany plays a special role within the Phygital Sports League because there are many clubs here and demand for innovative formats is high," says Lutz Meyer, CEO of the Phygital Sports League in Germany. "Phygital Sports is all about emotion, excitement and performance. We look forward to putting on a great show at ISPO to mark the start of the league. In the PSL, teams comprising both athletes and esports players compete in both the digital arena and on the field, which has already generated significant interest among clubs and gamers."

"The sports industry needs fresh impetus and new formats to truly showcase its products and innovations," says Lena Haushofer, ISPO Exhibition Director. "That's why I'm particularly pleased that we're hosting the first PSL Germany tournament at ISPO. By doing so, we are demonstrating how sports, esports and entertainment can be combined, and showing that the future of sports begins right here. This opens up new opportunities for the entire industry."

The Phygital Sports League Germany is part of the international Phygital Sports League, operated by the World Phygital Community (WPC). The league operates in 94 countries worldwide. The Phygital Games of the Future World Championship are set to take place from 18 to 23 December 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. More than 3,000 phygital athletes from around the globe are expected to participate in this tournament. The total prize money is $5 million.

According to the Phygital Sports League, the market for phygital sports and activity formats has grown from around $800 million two years ago to approximately $2.4 billion, with the prospect of reaching over $13 billion by 2034 (PSL did not provide specific details on this data). Phygital Sports aims to appeal to gamers, tech-savvy individuals and younger generations who wish to be physically active and digitally engaged. The new global league offers new game formats, experiences, and engagement models, making the sport attractive for sponsorship and branding.
