Manuel Höferlin, leader of the Federal parliamentary working group Esports & Gaming, won't candidate again after the current gouvernment period. The decision coincides with his party's fallout from the gouvernment.

Founder and speaker of the German Federal parliamentary group esports and gaming, Manuel Höferlin, will not candidate for the German Federal parliament after the current period anymore.

Höferlin has published this via LinkedIn. The announcement concurs with the recession of his party, the FDP, from the current gouvernment coalition due to the dismissal of FDP leader and Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner. If he is leaving politics in connection with this decision, Höferlin has not stated.

Höferlin has been an ally of the games industry since the inception of the parliamentary group in 2019 and even long before, as co-organiser of the first parliamentary LAN party all the way back in 2011. He was a recent strong proponent of the non-profit status of esports, an endeavour that will likely not succeed before the next gouvernmental period in Germany.
