Everplay Group Is the New Name of the Team17 Group
The British Team17 Group has announced the rebranding of the company to everplay group plc. For its subsidiaries astragon Entertainment, StoryToys and Team17, however, the strategic direction will remain unchanged.
The new name is intended to reflect the evolution of the business following its IPO (London Stock Exchange) in 2018. "The rebrand is a strategic growth lever and a key mechanism to refine how the Group will work together now it has embedded its highly successful acquisitions into the broader business. To create value and grow the Group beyond what it is today", the announcement reads. It is expected that the change of name will come into effect at the beginning of February. As of 24 January 2025, the new TIDM "EVPL", the ISIN will not change.
The rebranding only affects the Group's brand identity. Developer, label, and publisher Team17 will continue to operate under its familiar brand identity. The same applies to astragon Entertainment, a German developer and publisher of simulation games, and StoryToys, a developer and publisher of educational apps. All three divisions will continue to focus on their operational synergies and strategic opportunities across the Group. At the same time, a clear distinction will be made between the group and the divisions, because previously, there was the Team17 Group and developer, label, and publisher Team17.
Steve Bell, Group Chief Executive Officer of everplay, commented: "I am excited to be unveiling our new Group brand today, which we believe better represents our business which has evolved greatly since the IPO and reflects our DNA to never stop playing. This rebrand not only creates an ideal backdrop to foster greater cross-collaboration internally, but also reflects our aspirations to expand our reach across complementary sectors within the broader indie market. Fundamentally, we want to create pioneering and captivating experiences that enrich and inspire players around the world, and I firmly believe everplay will become synonymous with creating games that deliver a lifetime of play."
Talent and skills will be "nurtured and shared across the organisation" to support growth and the Group's position as a global "indie powerhouse". Everplay wants to focus on indie games (Team17), children's games (StoryToys) and working simulation (astragon) as well as driving back-catalogue sales by prioritising portfolio and evergreen franchises, while adopting new publishing and marketing models to maximise discoverability.
