Marion Plank is professor for Game Art at IU (Plank/IU)
GamesMarket: Who are you, and what is your area of research?
Marion Plank: My name is Marion Plank, I have been part of the games industry as an artist and animator for over a decade. When the generative AI craze first started in 2021-2022, it coincided with the start of my game art professorship at IU Internationale Hochschule. So naturally I gravitated towards what AI means for the development of games but quickly fell into a rabbit hole of Posthumanism, Machine Creativity, human VS. generated art and later connected the dots towards The Uncanny in games.
What brought you into game studies in the first place?
