With six million copies sold in under two weeks, Capcom's Resident Evil Requiem had the strongest launch of any game in the franchise. Moving forward, Capcom plans to provide ongoing support and additional game content, "so players can continue to enjoy the title for longer". As well as bug fixes and performance improvements, Game Director Kōshi Nakanishi announced on X that a photo mode and a surprise mini-game would be added in May, followed by a story expansion which is currently in development.

In addition, the Resident Evil series will celebrate its 30th anniversary on 22 March 2026. To mark this milestone, Capcom is planning various initiatives to captivate fans, including collaborating with Universal Studios Japan and holding orchestral concerts in Japan, the US and Europe. The release of Resident Evil Requiem is also part of the celebrations.

Resident Evil is the best-selling franchise of the Japanese publisher, with a total of 183.0 million units sold. The most successful titles to date are Resident Evil 2 (2019) with 16.8 million units sold, Resident Evil 7 biohazard (2017) with 16.4 million, Resident Evil Village (2021) with 13.5 million, and Resident Evil 4 (2023) with 12.2 million.
