Not all of the figures published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in its blog article marking the fifth anniversary of the PS5 launch are new. For example, sales of over 84 million PS5 consoles have been known since the release of the company's latest quarterly figures. This milestone was reached by the end of September, meaning that over 85 million PlayStation consoles have probably been shipped to date, even though there is no official confirmation of this.

Other figures, however, provide new insights. For example, that the more than 7,500 PS5 games come from 4,000 creators. Or that the total number of hours played on all PS5 systems adds up to over 100 billion hours.

Incidentally, the three most played multiplayer games are Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto V, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare. And the three most played single-player games are Assassin's Creed Valhalla, God of War Ragnarök, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Another exciting figure concerns the use of Share Screen. It has been used 1.6 billion times since its launch, for a cumulative total of 900 million hours.
