Nach einer ersten Ankündigung auf der E3 2006 ist es um die Verfilmung der "Metal Gear Solid"-Reihe ruhig geworden. Nun ist offenbar ein Studio gefunden worden, das den Stoff realisieren wird.

Sony Pictures wird nach übereinstimmenden internationalen Pressemeldungen die populäre "Metal Gear Solid"-Reihe von Konami verfilmen. Auf dem D.I.C.E.-Summit in Las Vegas bestätigte demnach Yair Landau, seines Zeichens Vice Chairman von Sony Pictures Entertainment, dass das Studio in Kooperation mit Kujima Productions, dem Entwicklerstudio von "Metal Gear Solid"-Vater Hideo Kojima, an einem Filmprojekt arbeitet. Nähere Informationen zu Inhalt, Cast oder Regisseur waren Landau dann aber nicht zu entlocken.

Indes deutete der Kino-Manager an, dass "Metal Gear Solid" nicht die einzige Games-Verfilmung des Studios bleiben soll. Es gäbe andere Spiele, die sich für eine Adaption anböten, so Landau. Namentlich genannt wurde die Rollenspielserie "Everquest" von Sony Online Entertainment.
