Sony is raising the price of the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles worldwide. In Europe, the price will increase by €100. The new prices will take effect on 2 April 2026. The company cites "pressures in the global economic landscape" as the reason for the increase.
Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, wrote on PlayStation.Blog: "With continued pressures in the global economic landscape, we've made the decision to increase the prices of PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player globally. We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide." It is probable that this move is Sony Interactive Entertainment's response to cost pressures stemming from the memory crisis (RAM/SSD), among other factors.
