State of Play With God of War Trilogy Remake, Saros, and Five Konami Titles
A new edition of State of Play was presented yesterday evening. The 60-minute show featured some of the upcoming highlights for PlayStation 5, including God of War Trilogy Remake, Marathon, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Saros and five games from Konami.
In the final month of the God of War series' 20th anniversary celebrations, TC Carson, the original voice of Kratos, announced a remake of the original trilogy. The remake is in the early stages of development at Santa Monica Studio. Additionally, the 2D action game God of War: Sons of Sparta, developed by Santa Monica Studio and Mega Cat Studios, has been released on PS5. Bungie provided new insights into Marathon, a PvPvE survival extraction shooter which is set to launch on 5 March for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. An open preview weekend, Server Slam, has also been announced, running from 26 February to 2 March. Housemarque presented new gameplay footage for Saros, which is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on 30 April 2026. Among other things, the temple on Carcosa was unveiled where players can learn more about the game's story and adapt upgrades to their own playing style.
Sucker Punch Productions' open-world action-adventure game, Ghost of Yōtei, released on 2 October 2025, will receive free co-op DLC for owners of the main game on 10 March 2026. This DLC will be released alongside patch 1.5. In Ghost of Yōtei Legends, players can choose from four character classes: Samurai, Archer, Mercenary and Shinobi. In Survival mode, players fight alongside up to three teammates against waves of enemies. In Story mode, however, two players experience various missions and boss battles together as a team. Legends will also receive a Raid game mode in April.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, developed by Kojima Productions, is set to launch on 19 March 2026 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The PC version, developed by Nixxes Software, will feature a host of improvements and new features, including Nvidia, AMD and Intel upscalers, FrameGen and unlimited frame rates.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has a release date. The fighting game from Arc System Works will be released on 6 August for PlayStation 5 and PC. The developers presented new gameplay footage featuring the Unbreakable X-Men team, consisting of Storm, Magik, Danger and Wolverine. They also revealed the episode mode, which tells the story in the style of a motion comic. Bad Robot Games' 4:LOOP was also presented in more detail. This rogue-like co-op shooter sees four friends trying to save the world from a devastating alien invasion that turns 99.99% of humanity into glass. Last but not least, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits (2021), has been announced for PC and PS5.
Apart from Sony Interactive Entertainment, Konami in particular took the opportunity provided by State of Play to make several announcements. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, a new instalment in the long-running Castlevania series, is set to be released later this year. Set in the streets of 15th-century Paris, the title is being developed in collaboration with Evil Empire Studios and Motion Twin. Silent Hill: Townfall, the latest instalment in the psychological horror series set against the cold, isolated backdrop of Scotland, is being developed by Screen Burn and published jointly by Annapurna Interactive and Konami. Rev. NOiR is a new RPG currently in development for PlayStation 5. Players must decipher the mandate of heaven and weave threads of hope. The second part of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, comprising Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD Collection version), will be released on 27 August 2026. Darwin's Paradox, a story-driven adventure platformer developed in collaboration with ZDT Studio, is due for release on 2 April 2026. A playable demo containing subtle references to Konami's other well-known espionage tactical game is available now.
