Fantasy Basel Presents Itself With Record Attendance

A total of 88,000 visitors from Switzerland and neighbouring countries attended Fantasy Basel - The Swiss Comic Con, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2024. Content creators and publishers such as Bethesda, Nintendo and Niantic were on hand for gamers.

A special highlight of the tenth Fantasy Basel - The Swiss Comic Con, which took place from 9 to 11 May 2024 on an area of around 90,000 square metres, was the exhibition of fan objects from the Star Wars universe. More than 220 Stormtroopers and Rebels brought the sci-fi world to life in Basel. But Star Wars was only one of many themes at Fantasy Basel. It covered a wide range of topics, from films and series to games, cosplay, comics, manga, art, tattoos, the Middle Ages and board games.

On the gaming side, Bethesda, Nintendo and Niantic were among those present. Bethesda was there to also celebrate a tenth anniversary, the anniversary of 'The Elder Scrolls Online'. Niantic created its own character in Pikmin Bloom at the Nintendo stand and was also present with specials on Monster Hunter Now.

In addition to the games, there were also numerous game related content creators in Switzerland, including Gnu, Reved, iBlali and KingChris. Cast members from Harry Potter, Ourlander, Reign and Stranger Things were also in attendance, including US actress Cara Buono. Well-known cosplayer Yaya Han attended the event for the third time. The show's Artist Alley featured around 400 artists, including comic book artists and illustrators Frank Cho, Esad Ribić, Stanley Artgerm Lau, Laura Braga, Mike Perkins, Enrico Marini, Viktor Bogdanovic and Jared Muralt.

The next Fantasy Basel - The Swiss Comic Con will take place from 29 to 31 May 2025. Tickets will go on sale in October. Then, on 5 and 6 October, the Zurich Pop & Con will take place, which is also organised by the  by the same people who run Fantasy Basel.
