The APDs are part of Stuttgart Animated Week, during which three major events focusing on animation and visual effects in media take place. The Stuttgart International Animation Festival is particularly interesting for consumers. The FMX trade congress also takes place at the same time. The APDs, on the other hand, are a business platform with around 180 participants expected to attend to expand networks, forge strategic alliances, and discuss industry trends.

Producers can submit their projects in the fields of film, TV series, mobile content, games, cross-media and transmedia, and virtual reality until February 4. Accepted producers can present their concepts to potential partners in one-to-one meetings. The meetings are planned by the organizer based on the participants' interests, which are communicated in advance.

Additionally there is the Talent Program for  young European producers and creator teams (max. two people) who have developed a promising animation project. Up to eight projects will be selected and receive free accreditation for the APDs as well as tickets for ITFS and FMX. Accommodation costs will be covered
