Games Ground Berlin 2024 Attracted 1,500 Professionals

The second Games Ground Berlin attracted around 4,500 people. The Business Ground drew over 1,500 industry professionals this year. The Play Ground was completely sold out with around 3,000 visitors. The organisers are very pleased with the growth of the event.
The second Games Ground Berlin was a success. From 14 to 16 November, the gaming festival attracted around 4,500 visitors from the industry and the community. "The increased visitor numbers, the sold-out exhibition area and the extremely positive feedback from the industry show that Games Ground has established itself as an integral part of the gaming scene," the organisers said. Supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the event consisted of the two-day Business Ground and the one-day community-focused Play Ground. Play Ground was completely sold out, with around 3,000 attendees. Compared to last year, Games Ground 2024 expanded its programme in both the Business and Play Ground areas.
The Business Ground attracted over 1,500 industry professionals. With five stages and 55 stage acts including keynotes, panels and workshops, over 140 speakers from companies such as Ubisoft, Larian Studios, Arrowhead, Team17, Supercell, Innogames, CD Projekt Red and Unity shared insights on development, design, community and business topics. Over 700 meetings with over 1,000 attendees from over 800 companies were arranged through the MeetToMatch platform.
The Mentor Ground hosted over 60 mentors delivering over 80 sessions. The Career Ground hosted eight specialist recruiters from partners such as 8Bit, Skillsearch & Metacore, delivering over 100 one-to-one career sessions. Delegations from Cologne and Sweden, facilitated by KölnBusiness and Arctic Games, further enriched the event by bringing nine studios to Berlin. New global business initiatives such as Publisher Connect (supported by Spielfabrique & Tugboat Interactive) facilitated matchmaking between 100+ studios from 30+ countries and 50+ publishers. This year's medianet Games Investment Summit welcomed 30 international guests, including Jason Della Rocca, representing the investment, public and gaming sectors. Discussions included co-investment, angel investment, venture capital and government-backed funds.
Pitch competitions by Coconat & Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur were judged by an expert jury including Rami Ismail, with the winners JuJu Games (Lagos/Nigeria) and The Roof Interactive (Berlin/Germany) receiving prizes sponsored by G.Round. The Community Awards went to Shit Show Studios (Dung Slinger), Sparrow Games (Obergenie) and 2Sync (Sync Arena) for their creativity. On 16 November, the Play Ground opened its doors to the public. With esports tournaments in Valorant and League of Legends, a cosplay competition, a retro area and various stage shows. This year the Play Ground has expanded to include an anime corner, a tabletop area, more workshops, influencers, musical performances and an expanded stage programme.
