Apple has announced the finalists for this year's App Store Awards, the most important prize for iOS developers, including a German company and two solo developers from Austria. Berlin-based Grizzly Games is likely to be keeping a close eye on the iPhone Game of the Year category.
Even though Grizzly Games from Berlin is not nominated in the iPhone Game of the Year category, its partner Doghowl Games is in the running for the App Store Award for Best iPhone Game with the mobile version of its hit Thronefall – A Little Kingdom. The other finalists are Capybara Go! and Pokémon TGC Pocket.
In any case, there are some very exciting lineups at the App Store Awards. In the Mac Game of the Year category, two AAA IPs, Assassin's Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, are competing against the multi-award-winning indie hit Neva.
And from GSA's perspective, the awards are also worth a look, as three developers from the region are directly nominated, unlike Grizzly Games. Berlin-based unorderly GmbH has not developed a game, but is nominated in the iPad App of the Year category with Structured.
Two solo developers from Austria also have reason to be hopeful: Michael Temper (Tempuno) is one of three finalists in the Apple Vision Pro Game of the Year category with Porta Nubi. And Klemens Strasser's puzzle game Art of Fauna is in the final round of the Cultural Impact category.
