Shapez 2 is heading towards its full 1.0 release on 23 April 2026, which will mark the end of its Early Access period. The factory automation game, developed and self-published by the German indie developer tobspr Games, has sold over 650,000 copies since entering Early Access in August 2024.
As shapez 2 heads towards its full 1.0 release on 23 April 2026, the final upgrade introduces a range of major additions. These include the 'Manufacture Mode', which allows players to build large-scale, permanent factories using early layouts, resource chains and trade stations. The latter convert shape types by fulfilling specific recipes. The game will also offer achievements, improved visuals and full Steam Workshop support, providing players with access to modding tools.
shapez 2 is a top-down factory-building and automation game in which players extract and process geometric shapes. Its predecessor, shapez, sold over 1.2 million units on Steam and attracted over ten million players to its demo on shapez.io. shapeZ 2 builds on this success by introducing 3D visuals and a space setting, and is financially supported by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space as part of the federal government's computer games funding.
