Im 2. Quartal des laufenden Geschäftsjahrs fiel der Umsatz des Disney-Konzerns um fünf Prozent, das operative Ergebnis um 32 Prozent.

Der Disney-Konzern hat das 2. Quartal (Ende 31. März 2002) des laufenden Geschäftsjahres auf Pro-forma-Basis bilanziert. Demnach fiel der Umsatz um fünf Prozent gegenüber dem vergleichbaren Vorjahresquartal auf 5,9 Mrd. Dollar (6,58 Mrd. Euro). Das operative Ergebnis ging um 32 Prozent auf 702 Mio. Dollar (782 Mrd. Euro) zurück. Der Bereich Studio Entertainment konnte zwar den Umsatz um zwei Prozent auf 1,6 Mrd. Dollar (1,78 Mrd. Euro) steigern, das operative Ergebnis stürzte hingegen von 164 Mio. Dollar (183 Mrd. Euro) auf 27 Mio. Dollar (30 Mrd. Euro) ab. Am Boxoffice konnten die beiden erfolgreich laufenden Filme "Snowdogs - Acht Helden auf vier Pfoten" und "Peter Pan II" nicht die hohen Marketing- und Distributionskosten der anderen Titel kompensieren. Im Segment Home Video gingen die Umsätze im Verleih- und Kaufbereich zurück. Disney führte dies auf weniger Releases und die hohen Vorgaben der Vorjahreserfolge "Susi und Strolch 2" und "Gegen jede Regel" zurück.
