Franziska Giffey, Mayor of Berlin and Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises: "Berlin is Germany's creative and digital capital. This is the only place where a unique mix of a vibrant start-up ecosystem and major global players come together. gamescapital.berlin attracts young people with a wide variety of educational programmes, skilled workers with diverse job opportunities and games entrepreneurs with attractive infrastructure and support. This year's partner country of the joint Berlin-Brandenburg trade fair stand is Canada. Canada has been one of the largest and most modern AAA gaming ecosystems in the world for decades. Since 2017, the Berlin and Canadian media funding organisations, together with the "German-Canadian Media Incentive", have funded 17 co-development projects with 1.1 million euros. In addition, the medianet GAMES International - Transatlantic Initiative, funded by the Senate Department for Economics, has further strengthened networking with Canadian games companies. We are very proud of these connections: They are not only important for the development of great games, but also for the further strengthening and development of our regional ecosystem. Our goal is to make Berlin the No. 1 gaming hotspot in Germany and one of the most renowned gaming locations in Europe! The Berlin-Brandenburg stand at gamescom 2024 is therefore the ideal contact point for sustainable networking, innovative ideas and successful business!"

Jeannine Koch, Managing Director of medianet berlinbrandenburg e.V.:  "With over 300 games companies, the capital region offers an incredibly dense and diverse games economy - and the potential is far from exhausted. Berlin's intensive networking and creative environment make the city an attractive location for the games industry. We are proud to once again bring this versatility and economic strength to Cologne with our joint appearance - at the world's largest festival for computer and video games. For over a year now, we have been organising strategic cooperation with the medianet Games International - Transatlantic initiative, including with Canada as a strong production location. I am therefore delighted that we have Canada on board as a partner country this year and would like to express my sincere thanks for the great cooperation! I would also like to thank Mayor and Senator Franziska Giffey, State Secretary Michael Biel and the entire Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises for their many years of support. We are certain that the games industry in the capital region will develop into Germany's No. 1 games location through the attractive gamescom presence, but also through other projects such as the above-mentioned initiative and not least through the planned "House of Games", leading to even more international appeal."
