Original News from 18 March 2024:

Indie game studio Paintbucket Games announces the launch of the Kickstarter campaign for its latest project, "The Darkest Files", on tomorrow’s March 19th at 4pm (GMT+1).

The historical true crime investigation game is set in the era of post-World War II and is the spiritual successor to the award-winning "Through the Darkest of Times".
"The Darkest Files" won the "Most Promising Game" and "Most Anticipated Game" Awards at Indie Cup Germany 2023. Inspired by the real-life efforts of Frankfurt Attorney General Fritz Bauer and set before the initiation of the Auschwitz trials, players will take on the role of young prosecutor Esther Katz

Founded in 2018 by industry veterans Jörg Friedrich and Sebastian St. Schulz, Paintbucket Games now is home to a team of around 15 developers working out of a Berlin studio. The studio's first game, "Through the Darkest of Times", earned several awards in Germany and internationally and a nomination for "Games for Impact" at The Game Awards.

The Kickstarter campaign secures additional funding for the game's next development phase and is supposed to lead to a Closed Beta. The corresponding page on the crowdfunding plattform is already live, with currently over 1,100 people watching out for the start of the campaign.
