Realigning itself into magazine-styled half-yearly publication, the independent games site Superlevel rebrands into Debuff magazine. Owners Christina Kutscher, Florian Zandt and Daniel Ziegener want to continue to pay writers fairly through a subscription model.

The German independent video game publication Superlevel is rebranding and restructuring itself, becoming a new twice-yearly online magazine under the title of Debuff. The editors Daniel Ziegener, Florian Zandt and Christina Kutscher announced the realignment in tandem with the announcement of the first issue, which will release on 1 August. The team wants to share more details in a livestream on 21 July, 18:00 p.m. CEST.

Superlevel had been one of the oldest non-commercial gaming sites in Germany before the former owners closer it down due to too much other responsibilities in 2017. 2020 and with the blessing of the former owners, journalists Ziegener and Zandt revived the page under the Superlevel brand, now offering paid opportunities for writers and a subscription model. Soon after, journalist Kutscher joined the team. After four years, the editors announced a restructuring and put Superlevel on hiatus, before bringing it back in the new twice-yearly format as video game magazine Debuff. The new magazine wants to continue the vision of Superlevel, paying writers reasonable rates for texts that would likely not find an outlet somewhere else easily.
