Humam Sakhnini Succeeds Jason Citron as CEO of Discord

Discord co-founder Jason Citron will hand over responsibility as CEO of the company to Humam Sakhnini in April. Citron will continue to support Discord as an advisor and board member.
It is surprising news of an extremely short-notice change at the top of the company: Discord has announced in a press release that Humam Sakhnini will replace co-founder Jason Citron as the company's new CEO on 28 April. In a message to the workforce, Citron explained how he himself had prepared for his departure by searching for a suitable successor in Sakhnini and ultimately finding him.
"It feels like the right time to transition from CEO to Board Member and Advisor. So I am thrilled to welcome Humam Sakhnini as the next CEO of Discord", Citron wrote in this letter. "After spending significant time together, I have complete confidence in his ability to lead us into the future alongside Stan and the rest of our executive team."
Sakhnini is an experienced top manager in the gaming industry and was, among other things, Chief Strategy Officer at Activision Blizzard and took over the management of King from its founders. "Humam and I are fundamentally aligned that creating long-term value requires long-term thinking and focusing on an amazing user experience. I am excited for his collaborative approach to fostering a creative environment for you all to continue delivering for our customers," so Citron.
And Humam Sakhnini adds: "I look forward to working with Stan and Discord's talented team to scale our business while staying true to the company's core mission and the special connection it has with player communities. We're still at the beginning of gaming's impact on entertainment and culture, and Discord is perfectly positioned to play a central role in that future."
