SNK Corporation announced that Kenji Matsubara will step down as CEO and transition to an advisory role, where he will continue to contribute his expertise and strategic insight.

According to the official company press release, Kenji Matsubara played a key role in advancing the company's global presence, notably by expanding its development division and enhancing its sales and marketing capabilities. The Chairman of the Board will assume the role of interim CEO as part of this leadership transition.

SNK also stated: "The board expresses its deepest gratitude to Mr. Matsubara for his dedication and leadership during a transformative period in the company’s history. SNK Corporation remains committed to its strategic vision and is excited about the future as it enters this new phase of leadership."

Kenji Matsubara had been with SNK since 2021. The experienced manager previously worked for Sega and was responsible for the Japanese office (in German) of Zynga, which was, however, discontinued by the US group after a short time (in German). As head of Koei, he led the publisher into the merger (in German) with Tecmo and was subsequently CEO of Tecmo Koei
