Congratulations to DCP Winners from Hamburg, Bavaria and Berlin-Brandenburg
Congratulations to the winners of the German Computer Game Awards 2024 have been sent from all parts of the country, including the local representatives from Hamburg, Bavaria and Berlin-Brandenburg.
Gamecity Hamburg, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Games Bavaria Munich and the Bavarian Digital and Games Minister have all sent their congratulations to the winners of the German Computer Game Awards 2024.
"We are thrilled with what happened at the German Computer Game Awards 2024 (DCP): Of the nominated studios and developers from Hamburg, four were able to take the prize home to Hamburg," says Gamecity Hamburg. Rockfish Games took the top prize for Everspace 2. Tivola Games won the award for Best Mobile Game (Cat Rescue Story). Fox-Assembly won the award for Best Innovation and Technology for Marble Maze. The Young Talent Award for Best Prototype goes to Symmetry Break Studio for Misgiven.
Dr Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media in the city state of Hamburg: "The games industry is of great importance for Hamburg and has recently demonstrated its quality at the German Computer Game Awards: Everspace 2 by Rockfish Games was honoured as Best German Game, and other Hamburg companies received awards or nominations. The city has long been committed to the industry, particularly through the Gamecity Hamburg initiative, which is part of Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft."
Pixel Maniacs, the Nuremberg-based game studio, has won the Studio of the Year award at the German Computer Game Awards. The company has made a name for itself not only through games, but also through collaborations with other studios. Thanks to the commitment of founder Benjamin Lochmann, two Italian game developers recently established themselves in Nuremberg. Aesir Interactive from Munich has also been nominated in this category.
Bavaria's Digital and Games Minister Dr Fabian Mehring explains: "With Pixel Maniacs as "Studio of the Year", the German Computer Game Awards is a real home triumph for our Bavarian games industry. Benjamin Lochmann and his team from Nuremberg are Bavaria's creative champions - congratulations! The fact that two Bavarian studios were nominated in this important category shows that the turbo that I ignited for Bavaria's games industry after taking over the reins has paid off. Our successes show that: We have created the best framework conditions in Bavaria to put our studios in the fast lane."
Pixel Maniacs received the 50,000 euro prize from the hands of Minister President Dr Markus Söder. The nomination of Irox Games from Garching near Munich in the category "Young Talent Award - Best Prototype", which comes with prize money of 25,000 euros, is also pleasing. Games Minister Mehring commented: "The German Computer Game Awards 2024 was a real highlight in the Bavarian Year of Games and a strong exclamation mark for the local industry. I would like to congratulate all the winners. They are creative drivers of innovation and therefore true pixel pioneers. With their successful work, they are generating a huge tailwind for the digital turnaround."
"I would like to congratulate all the winners of the German Computer Game Awards 2024," says Hendrik Lesser. "It is very difficult to develop video games these days, especially as an independent studio. In addition to the well-deserved recognition for their outstanding work, the winners will also receive a financial boost and raise their profile in the gaming community. This should provide a boost for future projects and motivation for other German studios". The managing director of Games Bavaria Munich is of course especially proud of the Bavarian winner of the DCP, to whom he addressed special words: "I am of course especially happy for our Bavarian award winners from the Pixel Maniacs studio. The Studio of the Year award shows once again that more than fifteen years of support from Bavaria is paying off. We are especially happy about the increased support from politicians in the current legislative period".
The MBB funded game Lose Ctrl (Play From Your Heart) has won the DCP Award in the category Best Game Design. Lose Ctrl also received prize money for its second nomination in the Young Talent Award Best Debut category. Ad Infinitum (Hekate / Nacon) was nominated in three categories and won all three: Best Story, Best Audio Design and Young Talent Award Best Debut. Friedrich Ebert - Der Weg zur Demokratie (Playing History / Stiftung Reichspräsident Friedrich Ebert Gedenkstätte) won in the category Best Serious Game. In total, five of the ten nominations for the German Computer Game Awards 2024 went to games from Berlin-Brandenburg. The nomination of the game Bloodletter from Berlin (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin/University of Applied Sciences) in the category Best Prototype also comes with prize money.
Helge Jürgens, Managing Director of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg: "We congratulate all the winners from the Capital Region and especially the team from 'Play From Your Heart'! The funding of the local games industry is being rewarded: we are delighted to see happy players and winners and the great response for Berlin-Brandenburg as the No. 1 games location! Thanks to the industry for the great commitment and the strong content!"
