The German Esports Association (ESBD) welcomes VfB Stuttgart as its newest member. Since entering the world of esports in 2017, VfB Stuttgart has successfully established itself in the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) and joined the Techniker Prime League in June this year with a League of Legends team.

VfB Stuttgart becomes an ESBD member (ESBD: eSport-Bund Deutschland; German Esports Association). By joining the professional sports division of the ESBD, VfB Stuttgart strengthens the voice of German professional esports. This not only promotes the work of the ESBD, but also raises the profile of esports in the football world as a whole. VfB Stuttgart wants to further consolidate its position in esports and serve as a pioneering example for the integration of esports into professional sports.

By joining the association, VfB Stuttgart is taking a pioneering role in German esports and pursuing clear goals: to actively shape the esports landscape in Germany and promote social acceptance.

Alexander Wehrle, Chairman of VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG, explains: "It is important for us as a club to be involved in esports, to promote social acceptance and to proactively shape the future of esports. For VfB Stuttgart, such modern topics are also fundamental to its development into a sporting home that spans generations and interests."

Christopher Flato, Chairman of the ESBD, comments: "We are delighted to welcome VfB Stuttgart eSports to the ESBD. This membership shows that classic sports and esports are compatible and can complement each other in their strengths - especially when a strong fan base is behind the club and the team."
