Federal funding for six games companies, including Gaming Minds, Serapion and Kaleidoscube
Federal funding has been allocated to six distinguished gaming companies, notably Gaming Minds, Serapion, Kaleidoscube, Barrel Roll, Lootzifr, and McPeppergames, by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK). This significant financial injection totals nearly €2.4 million.
Gaming Minds Studios, located in Gütersloh, is set to receive €994,406 for the development of the Season Pass for "Railway Empire 2". Gaming Minds, an integral part of Kalypso Media's in-house development studios, stands out as a prominent recipient. Serapion, hailing from Munich, is slated to receive €886,434 in support of "AHERO," an innovative adaptive learning game aimed at young audiences.
Meanwhile, Kaleidoscube, headquartered in Stuttgart, has been granted €782,961 to fund "Auszeit." This captivating game is a cinematic puzzle platformer that narrates the journey of a postman navigating a fictional city. As he unravels the mystery behind a catastrophic event plunging the city into turmoil, his movement not only traverses various cityscapes but transcends space and time, intricately shaping the chronological flow of events.
Barrel Roll Games, situated in Eilenstedt, Saxony-Anhalt, has secured €368,543 to facilitate the development of console versions for "Witch It," a thrilling multiplayer hide-and-seek title set to be available on PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Lootzifr, headquartered in Berlin, is the recipient of €75,000 in support for "Battle Wizard Attack," a retro pixel art action RPG celebrated for its unique combat and skill system, with game elements inspired by witty and satirical characters and locales from German history.
Completing this dynamic group is McPeppergames from Münnerstadt in Bavaria, which is set to receive €66,361 in funding for their project "ChillBiom."
Notably, these six grants were awarded by the BMWK before the temporary suspension of federal funding applications. It is important to note that new applications cannot currently be submitted due to the ongoing freeze on funding requests.
