Lead us into the interview with a soundtrack: What one music piece of yours are you most proud of and why?
This is a very difficult question to answer since every time I sit at my keyboard and start to compose music; I really strive to create something meaningful, evocative and inspiring. Sometimes you have those moments where you think you’ve created a masterpiece but then you realize it’s not and sometimes it’s the other way, I may not be as enthusiastic about a certain piece but after a while I might revisit it and feel differently, that in fact there is something to it. So, it’s hard to gauge. In a nutshell, maybe instead of what I’m most proud of, we can think in terms of what music resonates with people the most. I think the music I wrote for Starfield, Fallout and Syberia, out of all the hundred or so games that I’ve composed, is the music that creates the deepest emotions and seems to connect with audiences the most. So maybe we could say it’s not about what I’m most proud of but rather was I successful in connecting with the players. It seems with these three I connected with people the most.
