Shortly before gamescom, the association is coming up with an unusual job advertisement: game is looking for a new Director gamescom. Chris Baur, currently responsible for this position, wants to pursue new career paths after gamescom 2023.

It's not a setback, even if the timing might suggest it. One week before the start of gamescom 2023, the game has posted a job advertisement on its website looking for a new gamescom director. Chris Baur, who has been responsible for the tasks in this position as Director gamescom & Events at the game for years, will still be in charge of the upcoming fair, however, as the association confirmed upon request.

"For our Head of gamescom & Events Christian Baur, gamescom 2023 will be the fifth and last in his current role. He has decided to pursue new paths professionally," says Felix Falk, Managing Director of game. He says his expertise and tireless dedication have been instrumental in ensuring that gamescom has come through the pandemic well and safely.

"He has been instrumental in significantly expanding gamescom's digital offerings and massively increasing the international reach of the world's largest games event. Due to these successes, gamescom has even emerged stronger from the pandemic years. Chris deserves special thanks from the game board, the members and the entire game and gamescom team. We wish him all the best, much success in his next professional steps and remain on friendly terms," Falk continues.

Christian Baur's successor will not only be able to draw on an experienced team at the association, but will also have an equally experienced team at the long-term partner Koelnmesse. Tim Endres is the director responsible for gamescom at Koelnmesse and has helped build up the fair since its debut in 2009.
