Although gamescom in Cologne and gamescom asia in Bangkok are still coming up this year, it is already time to start planning for gamescom latam 2026: The BIG Festival, which is part of the event, has opened the submission phase for its awards.

This year, studios from the GSA region received 12 nominations at the BIG Festival Awards as part of gamescom latam, even though they did not win any awards in the end. There will be another opportunity in 2026, and the organisers of gamescom latam and the BIG Festival are taking the opportunity to start the submission phase for the awards one week before the start of gamescom in Cologne.

Studios have until 9 January 2026 to submit their titles for the awards, which will be presented in a total of 17 categories. Submission is free for indie studios.

"Year after year, gamescom latam BIG Festival has established itself as an important space not only for showcasing incredible games from around the world, but also for connecting with the audience. Last year, we received more than 950 games from 71 different countries, which shows the strength of this competition. That's why the opening of submissions and the massive participation of developers is always one of the most important points for us", comments Gustavo Steinberg, CEO of gamescom latam.

gamescom latam will take place in São Paulo from 29 April to 3 May 2026. In 2025, over 131,000 visitors attended the event, an increase of around 30 per cent compared to the first gamescom latam.
