GamesMarket Daily – 03 Nov 26: Newzoo x G2A, E-Sport-Verband Nordwest, Terms of Use, Stillfront, JD.com x MediaMarktSaturn, Helen Chiang, Borderlands
In northern Germany, esports stakeholders from three states are joining forces, whilst G2A and Newzoo have jointly published a report packed with interesting market data. The day was marked by sales records, the EU’s green light for the MediaMarkt takeover, and Helen Chiang fighting speculation.
is one of those questions that never loses its relevance in the games industry. And the answer to it is constantly changing. Just a few years ago, Day 1 was when the ultimate deal was on offer. Anyone who messed that up had virtually no chance of achieving decent lifetime sales figures.
Pre-orders and Day One are still important, but with the growing range of titles in digital stores and the glut of playable games available through subscription services, more and more people are in no great hurry to start a new game around its official launch. Waiting for the right discount has become the norm, as G2A and Newzoo have discovered in a recent study that answers some very important business questions. Let’s hope that these questions are asked regularly in future, so that what is currently a snapshot can become a market observation from which trends can perhaps be identified at an early stage.
Here are the news of the day!
