GamesMarket Daily – 17. July 26: Henna Virkkunen, gamescom, LGF, HoYoverse, Brazil Games, Toplitz, Daedalic
Whether it’s high-profile political visitors from Brussels, a trade delegation from South America or a major publisher from Asia – gamescom draws people from all over the world to Cologne. With just over a month to go before the event, confirmations are coming in by the hour.
gamescom has long been recognised in Germany. Yet the number of international politicians attending has also been steadily increasing for years. However, the fact that Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, is coming to Cologne in 2026 takes the event to a whole new level. Not least because, over the past two years, an increasing number of issues have emerged at EU level that are relevant – if not critical – to the games industry. It would be great if gamescom could also foster understanding in this area and promote dialogue between the industry and the political sphere.
Here are the news of the day!
