38 Locations in GSA Confirmed for Global Game Jam

As of now, slightly fewer locations in Germany have registered compared to last year. Among the participants are numerous universities, as well as hubs like Gamerei, R42, and Lab4u. Several studios, including InnoGames, Kolibri Games, and Limbic, are also joining the event.

This year's Global Game Jam (GGJ) starts in one week. For the 16th time, game developers worldwide will program games on a specific topic at the end of January. The teams, which are usually formed on site at the various locations, have only 48 hours to create a playable game. At most locations, the Global Game Jam will take place from January 24 to 26. In principle, however, the locations can schedule their 48-hour game jam slot between January 20 and 26. The theme of this year's GGJ will be announced on January 20.

In 2024, more than 35,000 game developers worldwide took part in the Global Game Jam. They came together at 796 locations in 102 countries and developed a total of 9,964 games on the topic “Make Me Laugh!” In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, there are a total of 38 locations, one of which is purely virtual. 27 locations have been registered from Germany, 5 from Austria and 6 from Switzerland.
