The five nominated games can be tried out in detail in the GameZone. In addition, students from various universities specialising in game development and animation will be showcasing their work in the GameZone. Participating institutions include the Stuttgart School of Media (HdM), the Merz Academy, the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Among other things, the games form part of GameZone extended, which emerged from the 72-hour HdM PlayFusion Game Jam. The exhibition is complemented by further interactive installations that can be tried out free of charge.
The GameZone, which is supported by MFG Baden-Württemberg and Games BW, is rounded off by a range of age-appropriate games to try out, including titles from Studio Seufz and Studio Navel.
Accompanying the event, short presentations and discussions will take place in the Metzler Hall from Thursday to Saturday as part of the Game Talks, offering insights into the production, development, design and ideas behind the exhibited games, interactive projects and current work-in-progress projects.
However, the competition for the Animated Games Award, which comes with a prize of 5,000 euros, is being followed with particular excitement. As usual, the shortlist includes several titles that are also nominated for the German Computer Game Award. The five nominees are:
- Constance
- Spindle
- The Berlin Apartment
- The Darkest Files
- Tiny Bookshop
The ITFS will take place in Stuttgart from 6 to 10 May.
