The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection comprises three titles, offering a total of seven games from the Mega Man Star Force series. These games were exclusively released on the Nintendo DS between 2006 (20 years ago) and 2009. Now, Capcom is bringing this almost forgotten RPG series to PC and modern consoles, making improvements and updates designed to make the games more accessible without undermining their appeal.

The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection includes:

  • Mega Man Star Force Pegasus
  • Mega Man Star Force Leo
  • Mega Man Star Force Dragon
  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Ninja
  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Saurian
  • Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace
  • Mega Man Star Force 3 Red Joker

In short, Mega Man Star Force is a futuristic action RPG series featuring a battle system that combines real-time action with card-based strategy. Players take on the role of Geo Stelar, the protagonist who can transform into Mega Man. Together, they confront various incidents occurring in the Wave World. Battles take place on a 3×5 grid, where players move their character in real time and use battle cards to attack and defend. By collecting a variety of cards and building custom decks, players can develop strategies and tactics. Another aspect of the series is the alternating exploration of the real world and the Wave World. As the story progresses, players encounter characters, engage in battles, collect cards, and enhance their abilities.

Of course, the Legacy Collection features improved graphics. Players can choose between enhanced, high-resolution visuals for a smoother look, or an experience that is closer to the original aesthetic. As the original games were designed for two screens, the Collection offers flexible layout options for monitors or TVs. All touchscreen features and minigames have also been adapted to be controller-compatible. Other features include automatic saving, combat-related settings such as increased Mega Buster power and reduced damage taken, and health regeneration after battles. There are also field options, such as movement speed and enemy encounter rates. All of these parameters can be adjusted using sliders. These features make the game more accessible for players who prefer to focus on the story or who don't want to spend so much time fighting.

The collection also includes many bonus cards that were originally obtainable only through events or physical toys. This allows players to create more diverse decks. However, some bonus cards are not included, such as licensed Crossover cards. As with Capcom's other collections, this one features a gallery with over 1,000 illustrations, including package artwork, official illustrations, and rare concept art. The music player includes background music from all three main titles, as well as newly arranged tracks created for this collection. These new arrangements can also be selected as in-game background music.

The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection comes with enhanced online functionality. Players can now search for opponents across multiple titles simultaneously. Rental decks are also available, and players can create custom rooms and trade cards with people from all over the world. Last but not least, the series' signature Brother Band system has been expanded. While the original versions allowed up to six brothers per title, this collection increases the limit to 100 brothers per numbered title. Brother relationships can be changed at any time and players can form a Brother Band immediately after an online battle. Connectivity features that originally utilised the dual-slot functionality of the Nintendo DS system have been recreated, as have special events that were unlocked by linking specific titles.

The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection was released on 27 March 2026. It is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam, priced at €39.99.
