Around 120 exhibitors, including over 30 development studios, many artists, as well as 15 universities and global corporations such as Infineon, presented their latest projects at GG Bavaria 2026. The programme included stage events, cosplay and a variety of activities for those looking to start a career in the industry.
Bavaria's Minister for Digital Affairs, Dr Fabian Mehring, said: "The record attendance at GG Bavaria demonstrates the current boom in future digital technologies here in Bavaria. Games are now a cultural form, a driver of innovation and a future market all at once. Our ambition is to further strengthen Bavaria's position as the leading location for games in Germany."
"To this end, we are building a strong ecosystem for developers, providing funding for specific projects and academic training, and creating visible platforms such as GG Bavaria and industry hotspots such as our Gamerei in Munich. In Bavaria, we recognise that to emerge from the current economic crisis, we must embrace new markets and fresh ideas. We don't want to sit on the sidelines and watch companies from Asia, Canada or the US divide up the future wealth among themselves. Instead, we are securing our own leading position in tomorrow's markets."
"Last weekend, when thousands gathered to celebrate Bavarian gaming and our studios presented their projects to a large international audience, it demonstrated impressively that Bavaria is Germany's home for games, e-sports, and XR. Our goal is to maintain and strengthen our position as a leader in this booming growth market in the coming years."
The GG Bavaria is being organised with financial support from the Bavarian State Ministry of Digital Affairs, and in cooperation with the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.
