NRW's Vice MP Mona Neubaur Visits Ubisoft Düsseldorf
Yesterday, NRW's Deputy Minister President Mona Neubaur visited Ubisoft's Düsseldorf studio to shine a spotlight on the Northrine-Westfalian games industry.
Today’s German Computer Game Awards (DCP) might put the games industry’s spotlight on Munich, but gamescom host state Northrine-Westfalia is intend on getting some of the shine back this week: Yesterday the Deputy Minister President and Minister for Economic Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mona Neubaur visited Ubisoft Düsseldorf, one of Germany’s biggest development studios. The studio is integrated into Ubisoft’s international development pipeline and has worked, among others, on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR.
Mona Neubaur: "The games industry is a growth market, innovation driver and driver of digital transformation. The technologies developed here provide first-class entertainment on the one hand and offer many sectors of the economy an important basis for new, forward-looking business models on the other. Game developers from all over the world have found a good home in North Rhine-Westphalia. This is a strong signal for a competitive location and highly qualified jobs in our state."
Benedikt Grindel, Managing Director of the German Ubisoft studios, expressed his thanks for the dialogue, which also focused on economic conditions. "North Rhine-Westphalia is a highly attractive location for us. Nevertheless, there is still a lot to be done to ensure that game development in Germany can be successful overall. It is only with international competitiveness that large productions are created here, which, with future-oriented job profiles, bind valuable expertise to the location. NRW can and should be the driving force here."
