Microsoft showcased its full range of products at the Xbox Games Showcase. As well as new games from the Gears of War and Doom franchises, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 and other AAA titles were showcased in detail. Third-party titles such as Assassin's Creed Shadows, Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Metal Gear Solid Delta were also shown. Three new Xbox Series X|S consoles will also be launched in autumn.

Microsoft deliberately held back from the opening show of Summer Game Fest 2024, opting to make a statement with its own Xbox Games Showcase. Gears of War: E-Day and Doom: The Dark Ages were announced and State of Decay 3, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Perfect Dark, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Avowed and South of Midnight were shown in more detail. At the same time, Microsoft announced three new Xbox Series X|S console options for autumn 2024: The Xbox Series S 1TB in Carbon Black for 349,99 Euros, the all-digital Xbox Series X without a disc drive for 499,99 Euros (Xbox Series X - 1TB Digital Edition) and the Xbox Series X - 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition for 649,99 Euros.

The third party line-up was also impressive. There was a world-first look at gameplay from Assassin's Creed Shadows from Ubisoft, an introduction to Dragon Age: The Veilguard from Electronic Arts, a gameplay look at the return of Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater from Konami, and the announcement of Life Is Strange: Double Exposure from Square Enix. More on this later. There were no games on show from studios in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC - as well as on Xbox Game Pass - on 25 October.  Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, the game is an espionage action thriller set in the early 1990s, where a shadowy force has infiltrated the US government and players are forced to go rogue for the first time. "In addition to a compelling new campaign, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 features new innovations like Omnimovement, giving players the ability to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction and move like a Black Ops action hero across all game modes. Including the return of Classic Prestige, Theater Mode, and of course Round-Based Zombies," the publisher says.

Doom: The Dark Ages from id Software comes 2025 to Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam and PlayStation 5. In this prequel to Doom (2016), the Slayer battles demonic hordes in a "cinematic tale" of gods, kings and monsters. "Supplementing his superhuman skills and over-the-top arsenal, the Slayer will also call upon his colossal Atlan mech to brawl with titanic beasts and retake the skies aboard his ferocious steed: a jet-fueled, cybernetic war dragon." Gears of War: E-Day is the next mainline game in the Gears of War franchise, set during the pivotal Emergence Day. Fourteen years before Gears of War, Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return home to face a new nightmare: the Locust Horde. A release period has not been specified.

Fable is scheduled for 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Steam. The RPG from Playground Games showed its dark side this year. Playground Games also confirmed its collaboration with Eidos Montreal, who will be supporting the ongoing development. First gameplay footage was shown of Perfect Dark from The Initiative and State of Decay 3 from Undead Labs, but platforms and release dates for both games were not announced. South of Midnight from Compulsion Games, which will be released in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam and Cloud, also celebrated its gameplay premiere.
