Within the Science Year (“Wissenschaftsjahr”) tournament 2025, the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space has called for students, kids and teenagers around the country to build their ideas for the energy systems and sustainable environments of the future in Minecraft or other block-based building games. Now, the winners of the event have been announced. Projects have been awarded in four categories: A top three selection Beginners, Intermediate and Expert level constructions as well as five Special Jury Awards.

The jury consisted of Dr. Juri Romanzanov, Forschungszentrum Jülich, Institute of Fusion Energy and Nuclear Waste Management (IFN), Hanna Meßmann, Project Management Jülich, Hydrogen Flagship Projects, Joscha Giebelen, student, winner of the 2024 Games Prize for “Digital Gaming Culture”, Tobias Thiel, Protestant Academy Saxony-Anhalt, Director of Studies for Sociopolitical Youth Education (Young Academy) and Michael Müller, gaming expert who streams as “Zander” on YouTube and Twitch.
