First Game From Horizont Computergrafik to be Released in May
In May, the first game from Berlin-based Horizont Computergrafik will go into Early Access: Rogue Voltage. The title has already won several awards. The original game pitch was: "Oldschool Final Fantasy, but you play it like a Zachtronics-style engineering puzzler".
Horizont Computergrafik will release its first game, Rogue Voltage, on 10 May 2024 for PC in Early Access in Steam. The game is a hybrid between a roguelike deck builder and an automation game. The original game idea was described as "Oldschool Final Fantasy, but you play it like a Zachtronics-style engineering puzzler". The wiring mechanics concept is inspired by modular synthesizer music production. The characters' abilities are created by wiring machine parts themselves. It's all about generating and allocating energy, creating crazy combos and triggering chain reactions. Rogue Voltage will remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months while new content is developed in collaboration with the community.
Luca Beisel, an art historian and software developer with a background in simulation and visualisation software, founded the company in July 2022. "Inspired by the technological and cultural pioneering spirit in computer graphics and the demoscene of the 1980s and 90s, we are passionate about unique, deep and engaging interactive digital experiences that are informed by history but are quintessentially contemporary," states Horizont Computergrafik, a member of the Saftladen Indie Games Collective Berlin.
The production of Rogue Voltage is supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. The game is the latest title in the portfolio of publisher IndieArk, after their recent roguelite successes Backpack Battles, Backpack Hero and Peglin. Rogue Voltage won the Indie Arena Booth Pitch Royal for gamescom at HGC '24, the Favourite Let's Play Award at devcom '23, was a finalist for the Rising Star Award at Indie Cup Germany '23, and the Indie Award at GDWC '23.
