Footgun: Underground, the debut title from Turtle Knight Games based in the Hessian town of Weiterstadt, has been released. The game is published by CobraTekku Games, the indie publishing division of BXDXO.

Indie studio Turtle Knight Games and publisher CobraTekku Games have released Footgun: Underground on PC (Steam). In this action roguelike players can kick one or several balls at monsters and escape the underground. The game was nominated for the German Computer Game Awards 2024 (DCP). It received a cash price of 25.000 Euro for being shortlisted in the category "Best Prototype".

Turtle Knight Games was founded in 2021 in Weiterstadt. Its debut title Footgun: Underground received funding from Hessen serious Game, the funding program of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Housing. CobraTekku Games (CTG) is an emerging indie publisher based in Munich, founded in 2022. CTG is part of the BXDXO group. It is the third indie game published by CobraTekku Games, after Snackhunter (2022) from Düsseldorf and Beam (2020) by Binary Impact from Niederelbert.

"In Footgun: Underground, balls are the central gameplay element and skill is definitely required. With ball control and the use of level environments such as walls, platforms, ceilings or even other balls, monsters can and must also be eliminated via barriers. After each successfully completed level, which are randomly generated, the player‘s character and balls can be upgraded with various skills and effects. Defeated boss monsters naturally unlock particularly valuable upgrades and loot. Different player characters with different characteristics and permadeath make each run unique."
