Black Myth: Wukong, the new title from Chinese developer and publisher Game Science, is celebrating huge success in the West. In August, the game reached number 1 in both the North American and European PlayStation Charts, which have now been released by Sony.

It is an impressive achievement that Chinese game company Game Science is celebrating with the release of Black Myth: Wukong. Although the game was only released on 20 August, early data from Steam showsed that the action role-playing game has been extremely well received in Western markets. As reported Black Myth: Wukong has already generated over $800 million in Steam sales for the month of August. And although the game has since lost its top spot, Black Myth: Wukong is still in third place on the global Steam charts.

As expected, the title is not only successful on PC. Although no unit or sales figures are available, the August charts released by Sony on the digital PlayStation Store show Black Myth: Wukong at number one on the PlayStation 5 charts in both the US and Canada, as well as in Europe. Sony does not publish charts for individual European countries, but the game looks set to be one of the top sellers of the month in all key markets including Germany.

Also worth noting: Star Wars Outlaws made it to third place in Europe, although it was released at the end of the month, so its position is primary based on first day sales only. In the US, however, Star Wars Outlaws only made it to fifth place on the PlayStation Store charts in August.
