Annette Kümmel Appointed Managing Director of Medien.Bayern
The shareholders' meeting of Medien.Bayern has named experienced media executive Annette Kümmel as the successor to Lina Timm. Kümmel will lead the initiative – including Blauer Panther, Games Bavaria, Medientage München, and XR Hub – alongside Stefan Sutor from 1 April.
With over 30 years of experience in the media industry, Kümmel has held various positions at ProSiebenSat.1 Media, Vaunet, Werk1, FFF Bayern, and Mediaschool Bayern. Starting April 1, she will take over as managing director of Medien.Bayern, working alongside Stefan Sutor. Kümmel succeeds Lina Timm, who is leaving the company at her own request at the end of March.
“Annette Kümmel is an experienced and passionate leader who stands for the sustainable transformation of the media industry and Bavaria as a media hub. I would like to thank Lina Timm, who has made a significant impact, particularly in inspiring the start-up scene in Bavaria,” said Dr. Thorsten Schmiege, President of the Bayerische Landeszentrale für neue Medien (BLM) and Chairman of the Medien.Bayern shareholders' meeting.
Annette Kümmel adds: "Medien.Bayern creates future opportunities. I see transformation as a chance for entrepreneurial progress, social cohesion, and the promotion of democracy, as well as ecological and social responsibility. I am very much looking forward to supporting the media ecosystem in Bavaria together with Stefan Sutor."
As an umbrella organization, Medien.Bayern oversees various initiatives across different media sectors. These include the Blauer Panther TV and Streaming Awards, Medien Netzwerk Bayern, Media Lab Bayern, and Medientage München. From the perspective of the games industry, Initiative Games/Bavaria and XR Hub Bayern, both part of Medien.Bayern, are particularly noteworthy.
