Ilikescifi alias Jürgen (Jot) Brunner from Austria has made commercial games like Gravity Island and Space Avenger – Empire of Nexx before, but in the last ten years, there’s one project that defined his work: A free to play video game that he modeled after one of his favourite series. Uebernatural, a 2D pixel adventure, released on 13 October 2021 on Steam. The title is not coincidentally a reminder of a certain fantasy thriller TV series that spanned 15 seasons in as many years: Uebernatural is a Supernatural fan game. Adapting the characters from the show into slightly different, legally distinct versions, Brunner is telling a fan story in a new medium that Supernatural never breached. Now, on 31 March 2026, he has released a DLC episode, The Heaven We Deserve. Both the DLC and the base game are free, and Brunner is financing his work through a Supporter DLC on Steam as well as a Patreon page.
“You know what they say about the 10,000 hours of mastering one skill? I think for everything about Uebernatural (the first ideas, the main game, the marketing, the new DlC) I have reached those 10,000 hours. I started thinking of the main game in 2014/2015.”
For the release, we talked to the alrounder about his love for Supernatural, releasing a free fan game and his history as a game developer in Austria and Germany.

MediaMarkt is one of the leading retailers in Austria, including for games, which is why it sponsored, among other things, Game City Vienna (pictured).
